Spend the Spring Bank Holiday exploring the River Thames, camping overnight.
Last year we made the journey from Sandford to Pangbourne, this time we will be starting higher up at Buckland Marsh and working our way down to Long Wittenham over the three days.
Join us for the weekend or if you would prefer only to join in on the days that suit you.
The Plan
Saturday: Meeting in the lay-by across the river from the Trout Inn, Tadpole Bridge, Buckland Marsh, Faringdon, SN7 8RF. Paddling downstream for 12 miles to camp at Pinkhill Lock, Eynsham, Oxon, OX29 4JH.
Sunday: Continuing on from Pinkhill Lock campsite and paddling 10 miles to stay at Oxford Camping International, 426 Abingdon Road, Oxford, OX1 4XN, which is just off Hinksey Stream.
Monday: Finally paddling from Oxford Camping International for 11 miles to the Plough Pub, 24 High Street, Long Wittenham, Abingdon, OX14 4QH.
The Trout Inn don’t have a campsite anymore so the closest place to stay if you require accomadation on the Friday night is Lincon Farm.
You will need to bring food for the length of your stay: breakfasts, lunches and evening meals. It should be possible to eat out in the evening.
Please confirm to me when you will be paddling: it would be great for people to arrange to share transport, and I also need numbers to book the campsites.
The cost will vary - probably between £5 and £30 per person - depending if you paddle for one day or the whole weekend.
If you are planning on borrowing club equipment it needs to be arranged with the Boson, and signed out in the book.
So I hope you will join us on the river, if you are interested, send me an e-mail answering the questions below.
