Reading Circuit Race ~ 30th May 2010
May 31st, 2010 (Shirley)
A small contingent of Wokingham paddlers raced in Sunday’s Reading Circuit Hasler race – well done to all who took part. The wind, particularly during the morning session, made for difficult conditions but nevertheless there were some notable performances: Congratulations to Rene Miklos and Bob Sutherland, winners of div 7, K2 and to Hafsa Kabeer and Magnus Gregory who won their individual U12 lightning races and also won the Hody race. And finally, commiserations to Thomas Burns in his first ever race – he swam twice but still had a big grin at the end.

Hare & Hounds successes
March 22nd, 2010 (Shirley)
Three club juniors; Sara and Hafsa Kabeer and Ed Pearson took part in this year’s Hare & Hounds Series at Wey Kayak Club. The series was blighted by bad weather and races had to be rescheduled on several occasions. Nevertheless our youngsters stuck with it and were rewarded with some good results. Sara bettered last years’ time by 5 min 16 secs, Ed by 8 mins 04 secs and Hafsa by 4 mins 01 secs. Hafsa won the best Lightning category. Well done all of you.
Gold for Hafsa at Longridge
September 3rd, 2009 (Shirley)
Congratulations to Hafsa Kabeer on becoming U10 Lightning Champion at the National Championships at Longridge on Saturday 29th August. It was a hard fought race with 16 starters on the backwater. Hafsa narrowly beat Madi Barnicoat of Longridge by one tenth of a second.

World Sprint Championships – Success for Sam!
August 20th, 2009 (Shirley)
This year at the Sprint World Championships in Canada, Women’s C1 and C2 races featured as exhibition races. The GB Women’s canoe team consisted of our very own Sam Rippington and her C2 partner, Lisa Suttle from Chelmsford Canoe Club. Both put up very creditable performances in the C1 races with Sam finishing 7th in the 200m event and Lisa finishing 6th in the 500m. However in the C2 events they really showed the competition a thing or two winning silver in the 500m and bronze in the 200m.
