Kayak Surfing ~ Saturday 3rd / Sunday 4th July 2010

We are planning to go to Saunton Sands in Devon, a long straight sandy beach backed by impressive sand dunes.

Come down for one or both days.  For those wishing to stay overnight, we will be camping at Lobb Fields, Saunton Road, Braunton. This trip is suitable for everyone.

Poole Harbour ~ 11th – 13th June 2010

Tidal trip, camping overnight on an island. Arrive either Friday evening or Saturday morning.

Starting at Redcliffe Farm we shall paddle down the Wareham Channel and across the harbour to Brownsea Island for Saturday night. You will need to pack everything in your boat so think about your craft (no small boats!). Suitable for all abilities. It may be possible for non-paddlers to use the ferry.

Coastal and Surfing Trip ~ 15th / 16th May 2010

Bring your craft – kayak / surfboard / bodyboard…  or maybe towel, suncream and a good book! We are hoping to go to Saunton Sands in Devon,  a long straight sandy beach backed by impressive sand dunes. Join us for one of both days, we will be camping nearby at Braunton.

Obviously we are dependent upon wind direction and height of surf, with the option of a flat water (tidal) paddle on the Estuary at Barnstaple / Bideford.

This trip is suitable for everyone.

River Wye ~ Fri 30th April – Mon 3rd May 2010

Introduction to moving water (depending upon water level) and /or flat water paddle.  This trip is suitable for all abilities. Either come down for the whole weekend or join us for one day, accommodation will be camping. Symonds Yat rapid is a short easy section of up to Grade 2 water.  This is ideal for learning the basic moving water skills: breaking in, breaking out, ferry gliding, reading water, moving water rescues.

Please let us know your preference, flat or moving water, or both.

2010 Events and Trips

The committee currently has a vacancy for an Events and Trips Officer – if you feel that this is a position you can fill, please contact a member of the committee.

We have produced a calendar of proposed events and trips,  some local, others further away.  We hope there will be something for everyone, click here for details and let us know if you would like to come along.  If you would like to volunteer to organise any of them, please contact Marion.

Don’t forget that the  Centre offers a variety of courses and activities.  See their brand new brochure for more details.  Club members will receive a 10% discount on production of a valid membership card.

Junior Whitewater Trip- Saturday 13th February

We will be paddling the Lower Dart (or Barle), travelling by minibus. 
This trip is aimed at juniors aged over 14 years who are 2* paddlers. Younger paddlers who are of the required standard may be accepted, please phone Sam (07816 075096) or Marion (07721 023415) to discuss.
 
We aim to leave the centre at 8:00 and return by 20.00. The cost of the trip will be £20 (members) £25.00 (non-members).
 
To book a place please either sign up on the noticeboard or email Sam.
 
A junior consent form needs to be completed for this activity.

Christmas Paddle ~ 20th December 2009

Flat water paddle stopping off for warm mince pies and mulled wine, on the way. (Other drinks will be available)

We will be doing the Oxford Circuit, at a distance of 9 miles, starts at Port Meadow, which is just off the A40 North of Oxford passed Inspector Morse’s second home, Trout Inn Pub.

We will be meeting at the club at 9:30 or at 10:30 in the Port Meadow public car park on Godstow Road. (more…)

Burn off your Decemberween Feast with a Paddle on Boxing Day.

Location is still to be decided on but if you have any suggestions please Let me know.

If you need to borrow any equipment from the club make sure you arrange it with the Recreation Officer, and signed out in the book.
