White Water Training Trip ~ 27th May

May 15th, 2012 (Shirley)

As part of the ongoing white water training we are looking to visit a white water course.

Having had a very successful trip to the Nene a few weeks ago we are looking at CardiffHOWEVER – Cardiff is a few steps above The Nene especially when it is on full release later on in the day, starts off easier then gets bigger.

If members are interested in going to Cardiff we can go BUT if the majority of interested people would prefer to go back to the Nene we are more than happy to go to the Nene.

So please let us know which you would prefer.

K&A Canal Trip This Sunday

May 12th, 2012 (Social)

Sunday 13th May

Due to the continual high river levels we will be arranging a trip on the K & A canal this coming Sunday.

We will start at Burghfield bridge by the Cunning Man pub and finish at the Club.

Please meet at the club for 0930 so we can extract the boats from the club bay via the centre if the shutter has not been fixed by then.

Please bring drinks and snacks for the trip, we should finish by late lunch time but the timings are difficult to guess due to the portage around the locks. There will be BCU level 3 coach’s present so we are covered with regard the moving water parts.

If you have a canoeing helmet please bring this with you as we shall then be able to shoot any suitable weirs, the club has some for members to use.

If you are able to come along and can take boats on top of your car please let me know.

Happy paddling

Steve

Medway Trip Postponed

May 9th, 2012 (Social)

Hi All,

Thank you to all that showed an interest in the Medway Trip this coming weekend. Unfortunately due to among other things the current weather (camping grounds are waterlogged) and river level (one of the bridges would prove a very tricky limbo?) it has been decided to postpone this trip to later in the year. Please keep an eye on the website for new dates.

Whilst i have your attention could anyone interested in the whitewater training trip 27 may 2012, please contact me or Steve Finch (He shall be lead coach) so we can get an idea of numbers and group skill level so a suitable venue can be decided upon,

Now is also a good time to show your interest in the surfing trip planned for the weekend of June 16th/17th, There a few B&B’s in the area and also a campsite or two. It would be preferable to book accommodation early so as to avoid disappointment. Again dependant on group numbers and competency the exact venue is not yet set in stone. So get in your request early and help us make the decision!

You can call/text me on 07768764030 or email wcceventsandtrips@gmail,com

Happy paddling

Provisional Events and Trips Programme 2012

January 10th, 2012 (Shirley)

We are pleased to welcome Ian Rayfield who has kindly volunteered to be our Events and Trips Co-ordinator.  Ian is an experienced paddler but not a coach, he will, therefore require a great deal of support from all our coaches to enable him to successfully run a range of trips.

We have put together a provisional programme of trips which can be downloaded here. We would emphasise the word  ‘provisional’ until the final dates and locations have been confirmed. The list of possible locations for the flat water paddles will be allocated to dates in the near future.

More detailed information will be provided nearer the date of each trip. We want our trips to appeal to as many members as possible so if you have any alternative ideas for trips please let Ian know and we’ll see what we can do. There is a possibility of a couple of longer trips (Easter and August) if there is sufficient interest – more to follow on this!

Would all coaches who are willing to help with or lead trips please email Ian  with your contact details and let him know if you are available to help with any of the trips planned so far.
