Who we are
Whether you are an experienced paddler or new to the sport, you will find a friendly welcome at Wokingham Canoe Club. We are based at the Wokingham Waterside Centre on an attractive stretch of the River Thames, just east of Reading town centre.
We have over 120 members, ranging in age from 8 to 75. Our activities include canoeing, kayaking (recreational, racing and whitewater), dragon boating and paddleboarding.
Regular club sessions are:
- Sunday mornings year round (kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, dragonboating)
- Wednesday evenings April-Oct (kayaks, canoes, paddleboards)
- Monday evenings April-Oct (racing time trials)
.
We also organise longer trips for recreational paddling, whitewater and sea kayaking, as well as camping weekends. Over the winter there are swimming pool sessions to practice rolling and skills. Some of our members can even be found on the river on Boxing Day!
We own a good selection of boats, including whitewater craft, flat water tourers and racing kayaks, open canoes and sea kayaks. We also have paddles, buoyancy aids, spray decks and helmets. The only things that you will need to provide for yourself will be clothing appropriate to the season and weather.
Would you like to join us? We’d love to meet you!
