A few of us have decided to do the BC/UK Paddling 2 day White Water Safety course. There may be a few places left with the provider, so I am opening it out to the wider club members.
Details:
Suitable for: "It is designed to support paddlers to be independent participants on grade 2(3) white water rivers."
Overview: https://britishcanoeingawarding.org.uk/white-water-safety/
Duration: 2 days
Location: Llandysul Padlers https://llandysul-paddlers.org.uk/, Afon Teifi
Cost: £200 inlcuding 2 night bunkhouse accomodation and training costs
Dates: 5&6th October 2024 (travel up on the evening of Friday 4th, 3.5 hour drive).
Its a practical course, so you will be spending most of the time outdoors in and around the river getting wet. A dry suit is not essential but it would make your 2 days more comfortable.
Please let me know if you would like to attend this course and I will see if the provider still has places available and get you booked on.
Kind Regards
Tom Dixon

Club Trip
A there and back trip up the river Cherwell around some of the most famous Oxford University colleges. Expect to see some chaotic punting and some dreaming spires
Paddling through the centre of Oxford, initially on the Thames, then the Cherwell, turning around at the Victoria Arms pub (https://butcombe.com/the-victoria-arms-oxfordshire/). You can purchase food and or drinks at the pub or have some on the water.
Distance: Approximately 6 miles
Meet at the centre at 8.30 am.
We will load boats and travel to Oxford parking at the Riverside Centre Donnington Bridge Rd, Oxford, OX4 4AZ. Parking may be restricted, hence the earlier start.
If the river levels of the Cherwell are an issue, continuing on the Thames is the backup plan.
